Bangalore: Astak has announced that it will release its standalone computer camera called Mole, which can upload videos to YouTube, detect motion and alert users via Twitter or e-mail, and let them see what it sees via an iPhone or web browser. It can also record what it sees onto SD cards and is priced at $299.

The camera can be set up easily for networking by owners, and allows up to five users to view what it sees across most modern web browsers. Via the web-based interface, users can remotely pan and tilt the Mole to get a complete view of the environment it's in. A two-way microphone lets users have conversations with other online users, and 15 LEDs allow for night-time recording. Internet access comes to the camera through either Ethernet or Wi-Fi, according to electronista.
