IIM Bangalore presents CONVERGENZ - 2008

Bangalore: Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore is conducting its first Business Event of 2008 "CONVERGENZ' 08". The event will be hosted at the IIMB campus on Bannerghatta Road on January 13th, 2008. "CONVERGENZ' 08" organized by IIMB's Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM) community and sponsored by Cisco will revolve around the theme "Innovation and Product Management". The event will focuse on the logical next step in the Indian IT success story- to innovate with technology.

"CONVERGENZ 2008" will aim to bring awareness and appreciation of the business skills in the technical experts. The highlights of the event will be "The Corporate IT Quiz", open to participants from all IT firms in Bangalore with prize money worth Rs.30000/-. And finally a "Business Case Analysis" shall showcase the best of the IIM community.

The case analysis will see talented students at IIMB who are known for handling technology in the industry responding to the business challenges faced by the high-tech industry in India on Product Management with an equal poise. Judges would comprise industry experts and eminent academicia at IIMB.

As part of convergenze there will be a panel discussion on 'Building an Innovation Ecosystem in India' led by Prof Sadagopan, Director, IIIT Bangalore. Rajiv Mehtani, MD, NXP, Ravishankar GV, Associate, Sequoia Capital India, Vinod Deshmukh, CTO, MindTree Consulting are other members in the panel

PGSEM is a management education program for the specific needs of professionals working in the software and information technology industries.

The PGSEM is IIMB's long term management offering for IT practitioners. In its tenth year, the program has successfully transformed technologists into enlightened managers. Its alumni now assume leadership roles in various organizations.

"Two decades ago, India's IT industry placed the country on the global map, In less than a decade, the PGSEM has placed IIMB on India's IT map, and continues to attract superlative talent," said Prof. Shankar Venkatagiri.

"CONVERGENZ '08" will attract participants from corporate and the likes of IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Oracle, Motorola, SAP Labs, Samsung, MindTree consulting, CTS, GE, i-flex, Intel, Cisco, EMC among others.
